The Swiss Surfing Association represented Switzerland at the ESF Eurosurf 2009 in Jersey, Channel Islands. As the ISA World Surfing Games were only a couple of weeks earlier it was only possible to send a small Swiss Surfing Team to the European event:

Thierry Andre - Longboard
Vincent Guillemaud - Surf Senior
Thierry Andre - Surf Master
Celine Gehret - Surf Ladies
Alena Ehrenbold - Surf Ladies

In very challenging conditions with knee high waves the nations battled for the title of European champion.

Thierry Andre was busy surfing in two divisions. In the longboarding he was able to fight his way back wining two heats after loosing in round one. He finished 9th in the end with a solid score. In the masters division it was harder an he finished 7th after surfing into the second round. These old guys still rip...!

Vincent Guillemaud surfed all the way to the semifinals in his favourite division: Surf Senior! Making the most out of the small waves he finished 5th overall. It was much harder in surf open though, and he was out of competition after placing 3rd in his two heats.

It was especially hard for the ladies as they always get the worst conditions. Nevertheless Celine and Alena were able to surf trough supercharge of round 1 advancing into round two. Both surfers fell short of the needed points finishing 13th and 19th respectively.

All in all it was again a good event were the Swiss surfers were able to learn a lot and spend a good time with the surfers of other nations. Switzerland finished in the 12th place yet gathered a lot of the potential points regarding it was an incomplete team. Congratulation!
